Kenya Heritage and Architecture Safari 2025
Kenya Heritage and Architecture Safari 2025
Map and Orientation
This was a quite unique trip and is one which has never been offered before for any group! Traditionally the focus of Kenya safaris has been placed upon its fabled flora and fauna: in this instance the combination of Kenya’s long and interesting history, with the resulting built heritage, all within the context of its stunning natural setting and tribal heritage offered us a travel experience like no other! Travel between regions was by private plane and one day was spent flying by helicopter flying north to the Chalbi Desert over Suguta Valley, southern end of Lake Turkana, an UNESCO World Heritage site, returning over the Ndototos and Matthews Mountains with its ancient cycad trees and waterfalls. We will stop for lunch at Rocky Hollow, home and lodge belonging to Charlie and Mouse McConnell in Northern Laikipia. It offers stunning views towards the Lolldaiga Hills and Mt. Kenya, as well as an interesting architectural ‘take’ including a chapel.
