The journey from Kargil through the Suru Valley, over the Kanji La and Penzi La passes takes one into the Zanskar Valley, one of the most remote areas of Ladakh. The area is cut off from the rest of the world half of the year, as the road through the pass is not cleared of snow. On September 22, caught in an early snowstorm, we had visions of remaining stranded there for the winter!
